Fully loaded with fuel and determined to find warmer weather, Cloe and I made a break for the southern States. From Toronto, we were convinced that three days of driving would easily reach Florida. Once deep within the sunshine state we would continue our work shooting the documentary, educating in schools, and promoting sustainable living within the media.

If one man's trash is another man's treasure, then landfills just might be the latest goldmine. With oil prices at record highs and increased attention on conserving the environment, businesses and communities are increasingly looking to landfill gas as a source for fuel.
All landfill trash decomposes over time and releases methane, a greenhouse gas, into the air. At landfills across the county, new technology is being developed to capture that natural gas, treat it and send it where it can be used as fuel.
A growing number of companies are finding landfill gas to be a clean, reliable energy source that can be purchased at significantly lower costs than conventional natural gas. In addition, the environmental benefits of landfill gas are significant. According to the EPA, the reduction in greenhouse gases from this project alone is equivalent to removing 41,000 cars from the road or reducing oil consumption by more than 50,000 barrels a year.

The Seattle Times came out with an editorial calling for Watada's conviction. Lt. Watada faces not only charges of missing movement but also several "Conduct Unbecoming" charges stemming from speeches he gave. It has been a while in America since somebody went to jail for giving a speech, but that is the situation with Lt. Watada. Give a speech, go to jail. One of the "criminal" speeches he is charged with giving was to a veterans convention. We start off with that speech. You be the judge; hear the speech and decide if a crime was committed. I sincerely doubt if the editors at the Seattle Times who called for Watada's conviction had even heard the speech, or seen it in print. Yet there they were–aping, chanting for a conviction like a Greek chorus of harpies. We present the speech, uncut. Be inspired, we were.
